About This Site

Foraged Palettes is an ongoing archive of color palettes sampled from my personal photo collection. Each one comes from a real place—an open field, a Waffle House, a rummage sale. I started this project because I kept noticing color combinations in the world that felt worth saving. This is where I keep them.

History

The project started in 2021 as an Instagram account (@foragedpalettes), loosely inspired by the 100 Day Project. Life happened, and I did not make it to 100 posts. For a few years the account sat there without any updates, but the practice stuck. I kept collecting palettes on my phone everywhere I went, even without a public home for them.

I knew I wanted to revive the project at some point, but resuming in its original format didn’t feel like the right fit. In the years since, Instagram has become less of a photo sharing site and more a weird clone of TikTok. So I built this site instead.

Colophon

This site was built with Jekyll and is hosted on GitHub Pages. Palettes are extracted from each image using the Adobe Capture app.
